The February Challenge came from Molly. She borrowed a challenge from Audrey Gidman and asked us to “Write a poem after Wendell Berry’s “Like Snow” — word for word. Here is my response:
“Like the Moon”
after Wendell Berry
What if we went about our days
like the moon, serenely, serenely
shining wonder and hope
into the world.

Be sure to visit Molly at Nix the Comfort Zone for the Poetry Friday Roundup, and to see how she met her challenge. The stop by my fellow Inklings’ blogs to read what “Like Snow” inspired them to write.

Lovely, just lovely. Yes, please. I’d like a bit of being serene in my day. Thank you, Catherine!

Catherine, you win the prize for Briefest Yet Most Gracious Post Possible! Also, yes, the serenity of the Moon. I think she manages because she refuses to let her orbit become a doomscroll of all our tragic human antics. Happy Friday to you!

This generous and serene moon has been shining wonder and hope through my windows, magnifying her goodness in the snow. She deserves the poem you’ve written for her!

Because I love the moon so much, your poem feels so “just right” for showing how special it is, Catherine. Super poem to the prompt!

Oooh, yes, like the moon. That’s lovely, Catherine. The nights have been cold lately when I walk the dog in the yard, but the skies have often been so clear and I’ve enjoyed looking at the moon.

Yes! A hopeful (my olw) moon! I’ve been serenaded with hope for the past several evenings in the desert. Ahhh…..

Catherine, I have loved to read all the sweet after Wendell Berry poems these days. The repetition of “serenely, serenely” is just perfect for the topic of the peaceful moon “shining wonder and hope” Wow! So beautiful.
