Poetry Friday: October Light

The weather in Connecticut has been nothing short of spectacular over the past few weeks. I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy several afternoons on my deck, contemplating the glory of October in New England. Although its true beauty can never be captured in words, I was inspired to try.

“Incandescent”

In October
Norway maples glow under a
Bloudless blue sky.
As squirrels hoard
Nuts and acorns,
Dahlias unfurl their
Extravagant petals, putting on one last show.
Smoke from burning leaves fills the air while
Crickets chirp a farewell song.
Evening comes earlier and the horizon is a
Numinous ribbon of colors, a
Tapestry of light.
