Slice of Life: Waiting to Bloom

The rain has finally stopped and my flower gardens are ready to burst. It won’t be long before the papery orange blooms of these poppies are dancing in the breeze.

They inspired this poem:

Patient poppies bow their heads
like dancers offstage
waiting to make their entrance,
waiting their turn to shine
in the spotlight.

  1. Your poppies are far more advanced than mine! Great photo! I hope you post one when they’re in bloom. I do love those heavy-headed beauties! Spring is such an anticipatory time, isn’t it?
