Happy Friday, everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday filled with family, friends, feasting, and love. Somehow, I managed to keep up with Mary Lee Hahn’s #haikuforhope. Here are my offerings for the week.
brief December days
bookended by darkness
long for sun’s bright shine
feathers ruffled
against a cold, steady rain
swans glide onward
snowflakes flit and float
scattering fairy dust
over the world
dawn’s golden light
filtered by gathering clouds
still holds promise
swollen stream rushes
babbling its timeless tune:
joy to the world
silent stars swirl, our
dazzling partner in an
endless cosmic dance

Oh I love bookended by darkness. It’s been wonderful writing with you.

Catherine,
I enjoyed your haikus, especially this one because I cannot see the stars in the sky from my Long Island home.
silent stars swirl, our
dazzling partner in an
endless cosmic dance
The snowflake one makes such a beautiful visual:
snowflakes flit and float
scattering fairy dust
over the world
Would you be interested in offering one of your poems for my autumn gallery?

I do love that ‘dazzling partner’, Catherine. The month has been such fun to write all together. Happy New Year!

Catherine, it’s been such fun writing haiku together! You’ve created some beauties here, and it’s hard to pick a favorite. As usual, I’m pulled in by water imagery with your babbling stream, but I just love dawn’s golden light and its serene optimism. Happy New Year!

I love the line, “bookended by darkness.” Though, all of your lines invite the reader to linger! Thank you for sharing, Catherine!

You have kept true to the form. Mine have drifted into the territory of life commentary. I’ve got to get back to nature!

What a beautiful haiku collection! Thanks for sharing these! It doesn’t look like PA is going to give us the same kind of winter I’m used to…

Lovely collection, and gorgeous ending haiku–I see it happening before me, and I like the image too! I also like your “snowflakes” “scattering fairy dust.”
Thanks and
Happy New Year!

Those fairy dust snowflakes — I’m picturing the dancing snowflakes in The Nutcracker!
