Poetry Friday: Hurrying Home

poetry-friday-1-1

Mary Lee Hahn’s #haikuforhealing project has grown on me, and I find myself composing haiku in my head as I’m driving, doing the dishes, or folding laundry. Yesterday as I headed out for one last round of Christmas shopping, flocks of geese flew overhead, inspiring today’s haiku.

  1. Like you, I have found myself composing haiku throughout the day this month. Now I just need to carry a notebook, or remember them long enough to get them written down somewhere. I love your image of geese stitching the clouds together.

  2. You are in the swing of these haiku, Catherine. The geese stitching the clouds is a lovely image. And I really enjoyed many of your little offerings on Twitter as well. May you have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!

  3. Heading home feels so right. My children are heading home. I’ll be heading home to my parents this week. Home. Nice sound to that word.

  4. I love those geese stitching a sky quilt. I feel like we, too, are making something big and beautiful…with our little bits of haiku strung hither and yon like beads or tiny lights…
