Slice of Life: Snow Day Haiku

Mary Lee Hahn‘s #haikuforhealing has become addictive, and Saturday’s snow scattered commonplace marvels everywhere.

tattered cobweb
now a crystal tapestry
transformed by winter’s kiss

a snowy thicket
strewn with breathing boulders:
deer hunker down

a mighty hunter,
sidelined by an icy gale,
dreams of chasing mice

  1. I love this. I love the opening; such lovely words. They grabbed me right away. Also love the humorous twist at the end. Thank you for sharing something that will get me up and going. And I agree; you have a gift for haiku! Not an easy feat to pull off.

  2. I love seeing you capture this snowy moment in just a few words.
I also love the added effect of the snowflakes falling down the page!!
I need to learn how to make that trick happen!!
Today in honor of Kathleen Tolan, I’m holding a debate today at school – Is The Giving Tree strong or weak? Wish you were at my school so you could come help. I’ll post pictures on twitter!
    Have a wonderful break!
